Client Testimonials 2017-04-24T02:07:03+00:00

“This is my second time round with iSpec, with some very experienced and very new end users to the product and below are my early thoughts and feedback and why I would buy iSpec every time and anywhere I worked in this industry! I’ve never met anyone yet who has not enjoyed it the minute they have learnt its simplistic way of working!”

“Using iSpec has immediately made tendering, evaluation and awarding of our large capital projects, a much more inclusive exercise due to the ease and visibility with which the process now works, across the various departments and buildings within the terminal complex.

Although PTP has some very experienced iSpec end users from their previous roles with other terminal operators, newcomers to the system (non-technical) are very quickly learning iSpec and seeing its benefits. For the first time since PTP commenced operations, we have created and will continue to evolve the PTP standard regarding technical specifications and contract documents.

“PTP has already reviewed its current procedures and are busy modifying them in order to enjoy the simplicity and visibility that iSpec brings to the procurement process. PTP is not only using iSpec for procurement of all its capital equipment, but also its major equipment refurbishment / upgrading projects and civil works. Already this is proving a major hit both internally at PTP and also our vendors, where refurbishment works do by nature add different complexities, but again, due to the ease and transparency offered by iSpec, our first refurbishment project through iSpec has been a great success.

Vendors cannot now submit incomplete bids. Because of this and better specifications and compliance reporting, PTP is fast becoming much more pro-active in detailing the requirements before contract awarding, which is especially important when defining equipment refurbishment specifications.

PTP’s experienced iSpec users already know, that this will result in minimal variation orders during contract delivery / implementation. Using iSpec’s Master Library has allowed us to improve our technical specifications, contract documentation and evaluation processes. This will lead to more standardisation which is a key strategic driver today at PTP.”

“Naturally, all of the above lends itself to helping PTP and its Vendors be more effective and efficient throughout the tendering, evaluation and delivery process. The transparency and inclusive/collaborative nature of iSpec has been warmly welcomed by Procurement, Finance and Internal Audit here in PTP as we move to the so called ‘new era’.”

“In the past PTP has suffered from minimal visibility of the technical specifications, and thus the delivery of all items one would typically expect to see when delivering complex, large equipment projects.”

This has in the past resulted in amended work scopes post-delivery which is not only costly, but also time consuming, negatively impacting a very busy operation.

This all results in a negative financial impact to PTP, which will dramatically improve as we now have more “eyes” than ever collaborating, discussing and reviewing every project from concept through to delivery and handover to our operations team.”

John Arnup, ex-Chief Technical Officer, Port of Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia

The main problems I have experienced managing CAPEX projects I have been involved in over the last 6 years in the industry are due to the factors that are covered in iSpec but not other procurement/tender management systems.

Key of all of these is the lack of coordinated technical specifications across all business units, and the eternal problem with legacy systems, that still allow for paper based quotations and transactions,  used at each business unit to keep the internal “control” away from top management visibility and control.
The fact that companies work through business units, each with their own management structures, has not enforced one system for CAPEX purchasing, even though it’s one of the key expenditures with the longest lifecycle impact on the companies business. Lifecycle cost of failures and related impact of poor quality of performance of plant and equipment, as well as purchasing of spares for these items linked to ERP systems, must constitute one of the biggest expenses for a company.
In this scenario we also have the consequence of failures that may result in human and asset loss, traceable back to the contract in iSpec.
The general consensus is that iSpec is the way to go for CAPEX because its processes allow control, flexibility and thorough integrity.

“…we as Hyster find the system ideal for its capabilities to communicate while tendering, the clear format and the easy way to add our responses. We truly think that this system will become a trend, which many companies will follow.”

User, Hyster.

“We chose iSpec for the following reasons:

“It is out of the box ready; Almost 100% fit to our business requirement; Allows for rapid implementation; Has standalone flexibility until our ERP system is integration-ready; Has an intuitive interface; Training and help are included; It is built on industry experience – not a theoretical model”

Stephen Donovan, ‎Head of Global Business Process, SABMiller

“Transparency, traceability and keeping the communication/negotiations together are a huge benefit for both parties… The only reason that we can manage so many projects so effectively is because the negotiations and communications are recorded against each item/Clause for anybody to read and see what has been discussed/negotiated. That is also valid for the Vendor because they pass the docs from Tender team to Engineering/Project management team. We do the same for 3rd party…..”

‘This tender, bid and contract management system is unique in that, for the first time, vendors are being invited to tender live on the system’, says Maurice Egan, Group Head Manufacturing. “Procurement capex is the biggest single cost element in SABMiller, some $US900-million a year, and, based on the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase of iSpec, the system can deliver on average a 3% saving on total project cost. We also quantified and measured productivity improvements during the PoC, and indications are we can reach process improvements of 300%.” says Egan.
